3 Signs it’s Time to Get Your Oil Changed
Most people view the process of getting their oil changed as a fairly quick and easy one. However, you should know what some of the signs are that indicate you need to get your vehicle into the auto shop for an oil change. When you know what to look for, you will know precisely what to do when those signs start to show up. Let’s take a look at some of the warning signs that it may be time to get your vehicle into the auto shop.
1. Check the Engine or Check Oil Light
Many modern vehicles are designed to let you know when an oil change is necessary. They have lights and sensors that activate when the oil needs to be replaced. If the light has come on, it is safe to say that you are due for an oil change. Typically, warning lights like this are designed to come on some time before you absolutely must change the oil, but you shouldn’t push it too far. Vehicles are only meant to go so far before needing more oil to allow for their safe operation.
2. Dirty Oil
You can test the quality of your oil any time you want. If you do test it and see that it is particularly dark and/or dirty, then it is time to haul it into the auto shop to get an oil change. You can’t run on dirty oil for too long or you risk doing severe damage to your vehicle. Instead, make sure your auto shop replaces that oil for you so you can run only on the cleanest and best oil possible. There is no point in trying to push your vehicle beyond its natural limits.
3. Exhaust Smoke
It is an extremely serious situation if you have exhaust smoke pouring into your vehicle. You may have an oil leak that is causing this problem, and you may even have a more serious situation than that. You need to look out for such problems and try to resolve them as soon as possible. If you do not, then you can expect that there may be some serious issues that emerge from your vehicle in the near future. Instead of taking a chance like that, why not just take care of the oil change that you need and see if there are potentially other issues that you should have addressed as well? That is the safest way to have this situation handled.
These were just a few signs to be aware of. Ignoring them will only make the problem worse and could cost you more than you think. If you’re looking for a trusted automotive shop, contact Kruse Automotive today. We offer a wide array of repair and maintenance services.
